7 scariest animals of your nightmares if you're creepy crawly phobias increasewith the number of legs they have as well as the size then now is the time toprobably gonna make a cup of tea or coffee and come back later this is thescolopendra gigantea also known as the amazon giant centipede these unnaturallylarge arthropods have 46 yellow legs and can grow up to around 35 centimeters inlength has about the same length was a man's forearm they have a venomous bitewhich were used to kill their prey which can be used the anything up to the sizeof a mouse, bat, small snakes and birds whilst the bite is not fatal to a fit healthyhuman it can cause severe pain swelling
chills fever and weakness. now if you'rewondering how they catch bats well that's quite clever really they go up in tothe bats cave and then may hang upside down from the roof holding on with justa few pairs of legs then they catch the bats as they fly past. these are now verypopular amongst collectors of exotic pets but just be aware they are known tobe very aggressive and also nervous. i think i'll pass on that one and i'llstick with a budgie. goblin shark - this could well be dobby the house elf's long lost aquatic cousin but it's in fact the goblin shark and the name is reallyrather apt with its huge nose appendage and protruding teeth making it look evenweirder but that's not the only strange
thing about the sharks. they live in verydeep waters normally in tropical areas close to the ocean floor and oftencalled living fossils because they've been around for more than a 125 million years. because they live in the deep oceans between 40 and1200 metres where there is almost no light they are sometimes called thevampire shark. thier eyes are small and their skin is almost translucent with thepinkish coloring coming from the oxygenated blood within theircapiliaries. they are normally up to about four metres in length but it'sbelieved they can grow larger. the large flattened nose is covered in sensorswhich can pick up extremely small
electric field produced by it's pray whichcan be fish, squid, stingrays and crabs either on the sea floor or in a freewater however it's real party piece are its jaws it catches its prey by rapidlyextending its entire mouth outwards. the flexible jaws are not part of the skull andalthough some other sharks can push a joint out a bit this looks more like aeven extending mouth. golden orb spider - the fear of spiders seems to beinversely related to their size, little money spiders are quite cute, bigger house spiders are getting a bit scary but when you get into one's like the golden orbweavers it's enough to keep most arachnophobes a heart attack. these arealso known as giant spiders or banana
spiders they are normally found in towarmer climates around the world and are the oldest surviving spider species withfossil specimens dating back some 165 million years. they grow big enough to capture small birds in their webs and even half metrelong snakes have been photographed being captured and eaten. they get their namefrom the color of a silk which shines like gold in the sun. the yellow helpscamouflage the web in the shade and in the sun the bright yellow shiny strands attract bees.the spider itself can also adjust it's pigment intensity relative to thebackground light levels and also the color to help hide from the
insects vision. luckily these spiders arerelatively non-toxic to humans with a bite causing moderate pain and swellingfor about a day. though the sight of the biggest ones at around 13cm or 5 inches across is enough to scare most people away. which is ironic because they grow totheir largest size in urban environments probably because of a lack of predatorsand parasites and the more abundant food supply due to artificial lighting. hagfish - sometimes it seems as though nature istrying to make the most ugly and disgusting creatures just a creep youout. take the hag fish for example the mouthhead alone look like the work of an over
imaginative horror film special effectsdepartment. these are the only creatures to have a skull but no backbone or jaws.they have skin rather than scales and they are ancient. the only known fossil hag fish which is 330 million years old looks very similar to a modern day hagfish. but it's real scare factor is its ability to make slime are not just alittle bit you get by handling a eel for example the hag fish can make as much as 20 litres of slime in a minute and if that doesn't get them out of a stickysituation, to excuse the pun, they can wrap themselves into knots and scrape off the slime to make an escape. hag fish are bottom feeders and
their main diet is polychaeta worms they also feed on the dead bodies of fish and other animals with sink down to the seabedwhere they like to burrow into the bodies and eat them from the inside out bursting out like a certain alien in the scifi films. tailless whip spider - if you crossed the ugliest spider withan equally ugly scorpion then the mutant offspring would probably look like an amblypygi or the whip spider also known as the tailless whip scorpions. these twistedcreatures appear to be made out of the most unsettling portions of spiders, praying mantis, crabs and daddy long legs and is a uniquely scarylooking product of nature. their
flattened bodies and legs range in sizefrom around 5cm up to a screaming inducing 25cm across.they are found in the warmer parts of the world and i'm mostly nocturnalliving in tropical forests in tight dark spaces under logs and rocks and also indark caves where they are sometimes known cover the walls. whilst these areclose relatives of spiders they are neither spiders nor scorpions andalthough they have 8 legs only 6 are used for walking like crab and theother two are sensory organs which are normally held out in front to find its pray which are things likecrickets, beetles, caterpillar's
and small insects. these little crittersmuch look like with deadliest spawn of satan but they are in fact harmless, well to humans anyway. they are non venomous but the claws can give you an nip like a crab. it has 8 eyes but have poor vision and have to rely upon this sensory whips to findtheir way around. these are also kept as exotic pets as well i think you needquite a strong constitution to have these things in the house. sea pig (cthulhu larva) - with no eyes or face the abyssal seacucumber or cthulhu larva aka sea pig lives in depth of up to 19,000 feet on the sea floor of a deepoceans these sea cucumbers are related to starfish squatty little to tube legs, which they can inflate, they also have a giant mouth which they
use to hoover up the detritus fallsfrom the surface. they graze the ocean floor in groups of up to several hundred orthousand at a time are often caught in the nets of deep sea trawlers. they're notpoisonous and have no big scary teeth claws, so they pretty muchharmless but they do look as if you weird as heck. aye aye - if you were wondering where the makers of gremlins got their creature ideas from then you need look no further than the aye aye. unlike the other cute members of thelemur family, the aye aye looks like it hit every branch is it fell out of the uglytree. it has the wide staring eyes, weird extra large ears, and especially elongated middlefinger which they use to extract
grubs from trunks and branches of treesand they're also not afraid of humans. researchers in madagascar reportedaccounts that tell of individual aye aye's strolling nonchalantly through the village streets and even walking right up to naturalists in the rain forest and sniffing theirshoes. however in their native madagascar they are seen as a harbinger of evil andoften killed on sight. it's believed that the appearance of an aye aye predicts the death of a villager and theonly way to prevent this is to kill the aye aye and hang her body up to ward offevil spirits. good for villagers but not so for the aye aye's
