wisdom teeth growing sideways removal

by the age of eighteen, most adults have developed 32 teeth. the last four teeth in the back of the mouth are known as third molars, or “wisdom teeth.” wisdom teeth are the last to erupt within the mouth. when aligned properly, wisdom teeth do not need to be removed. wisdom teeth need to be extracted when they are prevented from properly erupting. they may grow sideways partially emerge through the gum and even remain trapped beneath the gum and bone. poorly positioned wisdom teeth may cause many problems

when partially erupted, the areas around the tooth may allow bacteria to enter which may cause an infection. also, an erupting wisdom tooth could collide with other teeth and disrupt the orthodontic alignment of neighbouring dentition. the most serious problems occur when tumors or cysts form around an impacted wisdom tooth. this could result in bone loss or destruction of healthy teeth. when they do not emerge properly, it is recommended that wisdom teeth be removed early to avoid future problems.
